5 minutes with... Jamie Robinson
13 June 2024
We are delighted to welcome Jamie Robinson to Peritus Private Finance. Jamie will be working full time to help our clients ensure they have the best and adequate cover to protect their families and homes. We caught up with Jamie to find out a little more about him...
What is a typical day in the life of a financial adviser specialising in life Insurance?
The main focus of my day is speaking to families to ensure they have the best and most suitable cover in place, whether this is life cover, critical illness, income protection or business life insurance. From the results of these conversations, I will source the best possible policy by speaking to various providers.
What are the top three things you enjoy most about your job?
- Sourcing the best possible deal for clients
- Building product knowledge – every provider changes the key features on their policies regularly so you have to make sure you know how these changes could impact or benefit a client.
- I get great satisfaction knowing that my clients have the correct and sufficient cover so they can relax and just get on with life.
Do you have any special qualifications for your role?
R01 and R05 are qualifications that meet FCA requirements for financial protection. These qualifications are required to be able to give advice on protection products.
Has the way you work changed much over the years?
Yes! The majority of my appointments were on a face-to-face basis before COVID, I had to adapt quickly by doing telephone appointments and Zoom calls to make sure I could still full-service clients. I think this flexibility is one of the positives we can take from the whole Covid experience. Some clients don’t have the time to spend on a face-to-face appointment and some clients prefer to speak to me in person.
What are you looking forward to working under the Peritus Banner
I’m looking forward to speaking to new clients who are first time buyers. This will generally be the first time they have explored life insurance so it’s a great opportunity to explain the benefits to them
What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
Stick in at school to gain more qualifications which could open doors sooner for me.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grow up?
I always wanted to work in a trade when I Ieft school, my dad is a plasterer. Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t follow suit!
Name a fun fact about you that people may not know.
I support Newcastle United going to both home and away matches. I’ve had a season ticket for over 15 years, sitting next to the same guy, a stranger at first, but 3 years ago I was usher at his wedding! Just going to prove that football really is the beautiful game!
